OT5 KEYSMASH is where we come for our regular dose of flail. We’ve each chosen one thing that has made us asdf;lkj recently. Do these things make you smash your keys?
Between the North American and Australian tour, One Direction had three weeks off. I thought, wow, things will calm down, I can catch a break, take a nap perhaps, but NOPE. Harry Styles, decided that he needed to be seen in, and around ALL of London on his time off. Coincidently, he made this decision during London Fashion Week, where he attended three shows: House of Holland, Burberry Prorsum, and Fashion East (which showcased up and coming designers). He also sat front row at all three shows because he’s an asshole. I watched a couple videos from his entrance into the show house and OMG talk about some camera flashes…photographers went nuts. Only Harry Styles can show up in a white t-shirt that probably cost more than my student loan payment, some ripped skinny jeans, and make it look like sex on a stick. To top it all off, for two shows – House of Holland, and Fashion East – he attended with his BFF, Nick Grimshaw, and his hipster crew to round out my pain. Now, the boys are back on tour down under, which I’m sure will cause me a whole new world of hurt, but for now, I’m still recovering from Harry in a cheetah print Burberry shirt.
HAHAHAHAHA NO. That is my whole comment….No, but REALLY, Harry Styles? Who are you? I think he can’t go any farther than he already has then he just takes it to a whole other level. Will I ever stop struggling when it comes to him? How can people even stand to be around him? How does he stand himselF? How does he look in a mirror and not end up just staying there all day? I cry. I’M SERIOUS.
I almost just wrote: NOPE. And moved on. Because NOPE. I don’t even know how to deal with this. Remember when he got naked all the time on the X-Factor and he still had a little bit of baby fat and they played Spin the Harry and he helped in the kitchen and he was just this adorable KID? Remember that? *sobbing* I always say I don’t have a type, but that’s an utter lie, because I DO have a type. It’s basically anyone who looks good in a white t-shirt and jeans. So thank you for that, Harry Styles. I don’t even know if I’m being sarcastic or not anymore.
I can’t even look at the fucking coat he wore to the Burberry show without wanting to curl up in a ball and sob. How Harry Styles goes from wearing a plaid shirt wrapped around his damn head to front rowing at LFW I will never understand. And watching him pal around with Kelly O – who I LOVE – ouch. Harold, please. Give us a break, we need to lower our blood pressure levels.
Ugh Harry Styles can GET IT. I do not understand how he…is. None of it makes sense. I know around negative twelve things about fashion (and care even less) but found myself following along all the same. Story of my life, really. Oh, Harry Styles is participating in something that I do not understand/care about/have time for/really even desire to see? Let me spend 17 hours on tumblr hoarding every picture, video and gif to come from said thing. #normal

Let’s all just pretend that I am not months behind in this keysmash, okay? This is about Teen Wolf, season 3A. YUP. I’m a horrible, horrible fan and until last weekend, I had only watched one episode of the new season. I could make a million excuses as to why I didn’t watch, but if I’m being honest, I’m happy I waited until the season was complete. One question – HOW DID ANYONE MAKE IT FROM WEEK TO WEEK? I struggled while I was waiting for the episodes to load. I’ll admit to being a little apprehensive due to some comments about what happens in the season, but I am more in love than ever with Teen Wolf. It was more than I ever expected and I just couldn’t get enough I want to watch it all over again and bask in all the feels. Who is game for a Keysmash blanket fort with Teen Wolf playing? One of the best weekends I’ve ever had, tbh.
I think 3A was really great! I’m excited for 3B. I think 3A really brought out some great acting from the entire cast. I also liked the way the story came together in the end. Even though there was a lot of death, and there were a few scenes that made me roll my eyes, (how many slo-mo wind scenes did we need), I really enjoyed the horror aspect, and emotional strain that each of the characters went through (STILES BB!) so I think 3B will be even better, and I really can’t wait for it.
Okay, okay, this is making me joooooooones for season 3B. I think at some point I’ll do a rewatch of 3A so I can see it all back to back before the new season starts. I know a lot of the fandom was, er, perturbed by some of the things that happened in 3A, but I actually really liked it all the way through, even when the twists and turns seemed to come from nowhere. And ZOMG the relationship between Stiles and his dad is still one of my favorite things about the show. Am I allowed to spoil? I’m going to spoil. SPOILER ALERT. Now that Papa Stilinski knows about the supernatural, I can’t WAIT to see how that plays into 3B. I’m also actually kind of into the Allison-Isaac-Scott triangle, and I tend to hate love triangles. Is it January yet?
This is the first season that I’ve watched in real time from the very beginning, and I LOVED IT SO MUCH. I’m going to be shallow, because I’m in the safe space of the blog, and because everyone else already said the great stuff about 3A. I was worried about Dylan O’Brien keeping the long hair for Stiles but OMG AM I GLAD HE DID. HE IS SO ATTRACTIVE.
BREAKING NEWS: I really, really love Teen Wolf. I thought 3A was amazing, tbh. Sure, there were some things that I would have liked to have seen (Derek and Cora’s reunion, the cute (I meant CUT, not cute, but fuck it, let’s go with cute) Sterek scene, Erica getting a proper goodbye, more of Stiles’ bare feet, etc., etc.) but overall I thought the first half of the season was fantastic. The character development was A+ (I can’t even TALK about Derek), the Big Bad mindfuck was deliciously wonderful, and Stiles’ hair gives me life. 10 out of 10 would watch it again.

So, fall TV shows are FINALLY starting to come back, and I almost keysmashed about Sleepy Hollow (because Ichabod Crane eating donut holes and then complaining about sales tax is the best thing ever), but then Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. premiered on Tuesday and asdf;lkj. First, Agent Coulson lives! Second, a Joss Whedon creation is back on my TV! I loved The Avengers probably more than a human being rightly ought, and the apparent death of Agent Coulson was hard to swallow, as necessary as it was at the time. So to have him and his smartassery back and the focal point of this new TV series is fantastic. After a few minutes, I was hooked. The dialogue is sharp and the story is interesting. Instead of dealing with some catastrophic event, this has the agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. looking into a group called the Rising Tide who seem to be giving people super powers. The interesting thing to me is that the show is focusing on a post-Avengers world in which people now know that superheroes exist, and how this changes everything. (And the Easter eggs that have already appeared in one episode are a nerd’s delight.)
I’m so happy that Joss Whedon’s “grr arrgh” is back on my TV once again! I too was devastated when they killed Coulson, so I was thrilled to hear they were making S.H.I.E.L.D. into a show. One of my favorite things about actors, is when they live tweet during the airing of their show. The cast of Scandal does it every Thursday, and on Tuesday, Clark Gregg, the actor who plays Agent Coulson was stalking the #AgentsofSHIELD tag and responding and RTing fans. There was a great line in the show, “I don’t think Thor is technically a god. “Well then, you haven’t been near his arms”, and I tweeted the quote, and he noticed and adkjfad;lkj he RT’d me! I got 209 favorites, and 316 RT’s. Oh hai, the power of celebrities on twitter. So, not only did I have a great time watching the show, I got a tiny interaction with Coulson that made my night. Amazing! I can’t wait until next week!
I’ve been seeing such great things about this show so far! I have been telling myself for far too long that I will finally watch all of The Avengers and get sucked into that fandom, but I’ve held off… somehow. Maybe this show will be my gateway
drug.
THIS SHOW IS SO AWESOME. My comic book knowledge is minimal. I’ve read them, I’ve grown up with people that read them, and I’ve dated a lot of people that love them, so I’ve absorbed a little bit and researched a little on my own. But I’ve been a Whedonite since the first time I was exposed to his work, and everything he touches is gold. The writing on this show is hilarious, the characters are already so endearing, and Clark Gregg is AMAZING. I can’t wait to see where they’re going next.
LOVED IT. The show itself was great but my favorite part was seeing my ENTIRE twitter feed talk about it. It seemed like everyone was watching and goddammit if I don’t love a good collective squee every once in a while. I’m so thrilled to have new (and good!) shows on my TV again and I may or may not have gotten a little verklempt when Joss’ grrrr arrrgh popped up at the end of the credits. Or a lot verklempt. There were tears. #noregrets
Oh, hey, have I mentioned that the Chicago Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup? I may have, once or twice. This summer has been a veritable smorgasbord of Cup shenanigans, and they come to a dramatic, emotional end this week with the 2013 banner raising ceremony. If this year’s ceremony is anything like 2010’s ceremony, it will involve emotionally manipulative music and a video montage or two, players carrying the banner across the ice and then snuggling in their gear while watching the banner float to the rafters, and multiple awkward team photos. I do know two things about this year’s ceremony: It happens on my birthday, and I WILL BE THERE.
I am concerned about my well being, tbqh. Sports celebrations top the list of reasons I will sob like a baby, and this is my team. These are my boys, celebrating the biggest win of all. And I will be there. Granted, I’ll be higher up in the arena than the banner will end up (literally) but I will still be there. I can’t wait to share that moment with the other fans, including some of the ladies that I met in this fandom. It’s a good damn thing I can’t get tweets to send in the United Center, otherwise my fanpals would be inundated with allcaps.
I don’t keep up with hockey minus the fact that I support any team that comes out of Detroit, and for me, right now, it’s all about college football (GO BLUE!) but it’s always cool to see your team win a championship, and equally cool that it’s happening on your birthday, Liz. Who cares how high up you’ll be, that’s why jumbo video screens were invented!
Liz, you are going to make me cry. THE BLACKHAWKS, BABY. I might not be there physically, but I will be there with you in all the other ways!!! I still cannot believe we won the Stanley Cup. It feels like just yesterday. OH WAIT, IT WAS. AHHHH. Please take all the pictures and have another meltdown via text when you are in the Blackhawks presence. I am so excited for you babe!
I didn’t grow up watching hockey, but the Stanley Cup has always been my favorite of the major trophies. I just think the lore behind it and the places its been and all the names on it is awesome. It’s like you enter this special club that so few people can say they’re in, and you get to be in it with Wayne Gretzky and Bobby Orr and Jaromir Jagr. And I don’t know, but there’s something unique about that with the Stanley Cup that you don’t get with Super Bowl rings or Heisman Trophies. And now I’m tearing up because sports make me cry.
This makes me happy because it makes Liz happy. Plus she recently made me watch a video of one of these hockey playing kids demonstrating his ability to handle a stick and I must say that I was impressed. And a bit turned on. A lot turned on. Okay, I may have shouty capped back at her. And I know just about as much about hockey as I do fashion. THANKS AGAIN, FANDOM. No really, thanks. Collective flailing, no matter what the subject, is a-okay in my book.

I’ve honestly been laying pretty low in the 1D fandom recently but the other day I finally saw the movie and then this happened and I had a legit meltdown. It was nice. I’d missed that feeling of complete out-of-control insanity. But Liam, oh my fucking god. I just picture him totally beside himself, watching girls crawl around in the “snake habitat” behind the hotel, and sincerely worried for their safety while the other boys just laugh their asses off at him. Bless. I also have this vision of a bunch of rabid fangirls emerging from the brush with their fists full of dead venomous snakes, waving them around like trophies. I need a t-shirt with SNAKE HABITAT TURN AROUND printed across the front like I need air to breathe.
This was a really fun night on twitter when it happened. Just when you thought Brazil had the thirstiest fangirls, here come the Aussies, battling snakes just to get a selfie. I can see it now, “I lost my leg thanks to a snake bite, but I got that Liam selfie!” Plus, the jokes write themselves, Snakes on a Payne? Yeah, that happened. Liam is such a sweetheart, but I can just see his face aghast with concern that these girls were going to die by snake bite. Though, they have bugs the size of cats down under, so I thinks snakes might be the least of their concerns.
I missed this entirely, but when I saw all the fanart come out of it, I had to catch up. Liam Payne tweeting about the safety of their fans from a snake habitat. I mean, COME ON. Say what you want about Liam Payne (you’re wrong, but you can say it), but you cannot say he doesn’t have a heart of gold. He needs to stop making himself so damn endearing, I can’t handle it. A snake habitat though, fan girls? I thought the streets of New York City was crazy. Props to y’all.
I somehow managed to miss all of this when it was happening. But I am now cracking up. The first tweet was typical Liam sweetness, but the second tweet with the shouty caps. The CONCERN that Liam has is heart-clenching. But seriously, Aussie fangirls, a snake habitat sounds like serious shit. I’ve seen the snake shows on the Discovery channel, and Australia has some nasty ones. And you know what snakes don’t like? Being disturbed. You know what would disturb a snake? A lot of movement and noise from a gaggle of fangirls. *headdesk* “I might have gotten bitten by a brown snake and am getting my arm amputated, but Liam Payne waved at me. Worth it.” *whispers* I’d get stung by a scorpion to see Karl Urban smolder in person. What.
Liam Payne is a joy and a delight. He brings warmth to my heart. I have had a lot of feelings about Liam Payne lately. After the last time I saw the movie I said to my sister, “No one will ever look happier than Liam Payne smiling.” I swear. Anyway. The fact that he tweeted to warn girls about the snakes – I just can’t even handle his earnestness and sweetness. Twitter was HILARIOUS immediately after he sent those tweets, I’ve never been more proud of a fandom’s sense of humor.
Share your flail below! Are you all asdf;lkj over the same things we are? Or do you have more things to share to make the OT5 asd;lfkj? WHO WANTS MORE FEELS????? WE DO WE DO!!!!!
